If you are a progressive than you probably are familiar with a man named George Soros. Soros is the billionaire who fundamentally changed the financial market with his investments at Soros Hedge Fund. George Soros is more well known for his political activism and his hard work with his philanthropic arm, the Open Society Foundations. Soros believes in a world where the government is transparent and beholden to the people, where social justice is applauded, and where equality is as fundamental to living as food or water. Soros is, as a result, enemy #1 to conservatives everywhere. George Soros decided to return to political activism during the 2016 presidential election in order to stand up to the damaging rhetoric of Republican Donald Trump. George Soros rose to political prominence when he became a vocal backer of Al Gore in his Presidential run against incumbent George W. Bush. Soros would invest time, effort, and hefty finances in order to try and get Gore elected only to fall short in a controversial manner. Now, Soros is returning once more to try and sway the political momentum of the Republican party as the GOP drives the United States government toward and eventually off of a cliff. Soros came out into the 2016 election campaigns in order to throw his sizable influence behind Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and the rest of the down ballot progressives. Soros would go on to donate a staggering $25 million to various PACs supporting the progressive movement.

The reason for Soros’ return to politics was quite simple: he stands for everything that Donald Trump was basing his platform against. Donald Trump’s violent, exclusive, damaging, and dangerous rhetoric was one of the biggest reasons George Soros knew that he had to return to politics. The stakes were too high, the election too important, and the people were too at risk to sit idly by. Soros went so far as to call out Trump’s rhetoric as a branding tool for the terrorists at ISIS.
